Libraries

Today, there are more than 250,000 libraries around the world, of which almost 90,000 are in the countries of the European Union. As keepers of a priceless cultural heritage, the mission of libraries is to preserve their collections while at the same time making sure that they are available both to present-day users and to future generations.

With the development of new information technologies, library practices have been radically modified: a growing number of libraries is now engaged in campaigns to digitize their works. The digitization of library collections has in fact become essential as it not only improves the preservation of documents by reducing the number of times they are handled, but it also makes it possible to distribute them to the general public via various communications media (electronic and paper format) and it makes rare and precious works accessible to the general public.

Benefits of our solutions
  • Long lifetime and preservation of fragile and precious works
    • Reproduction of rare and fragile works,
    • Limitation of risks related to the handling or distribution of documents.
  • Better distribution to a large audience
    • Speed and ease of distribution and transfer of documents (Internet, Intranet databases, CD-Rom, facsimiles, printing, etc.).
  • Development of cultural heritage
    • Access to documents not generally available to the general public because of their great value and fragility,
